Rara Lake is popular for being the largest lake in Nepal. Known as the ‘Queen of Lakes’ and later rechristened by the late King Mahendra Shah of Nepal as ‘Mahendra Daha’, the lake is situated at the altitude of 2,980 meters (9,837 ft). The lack of access and lesser crowd makes the site a clean, pristine and solitary place for the visit.
It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located at the far west region of Nepal. It is located inside the Rara National Park, which is popular for its wildlife, namely; Musk deer, Red Panda, Himalayan black bear, leopard and Himalayan goral. The Rara National Park is home to around 1,074 species of animals including 51 mammalian species and 214 species of birds.
The highest you will reach during the trek is at Daphne Langa Pass at an altitude of 3,500 meters (11,480 ft). The landscape is mostly covered by pine and juniper forests.
The 9 days of continuous trekking may prove to be strenuous for some trekkers. The trek begins from Jumla, a beautiful town in western Nepal and end at Nepalgunj. A flight will facilitate the commute to and from Kathmandu.
Poses challenge for the amateurs. It may require fair level of fitness. Maximum altitude remains around 4000 m – 4500 m and the hike requires around 5-6 hours a day.
Comfortable tourist-class accommodations with character; mix of public and private transport. Star Standard meals at Kathmandu!

Annapurna is the best place on Earth. The route and scenery are breath-taking. The way leading from Machhapuchhre to Annapurna base camp is the best.
I had fun with my friends. The guide is the best! He helped us throughout the trip. I’d suggest you to take Diamox to help prevent altitude sickness. It’s really hard to breath when you reach at the top. All in all a great experience. ~Jessica Mahut (Florida, USA)
