Khopra Danda trek (also known as the Khopra Ridge trek) is the best alternative to the more popular trekking trail Poon Hill Trek or ABC Trek taking you higher to another great viewpoint, from where can be explored the entire Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges.

If you’re looking for the perfect week-long trek, a little off the beaten path and great views, the Khopra Danda trek is a great choice. It is the best trekking trail Nepal has to offer: amazing mountain views, pastoral Poon village, and terrestrial rice fields layered on top of each other, descending down into the valley. The best part of this trek is very few people know about the Khopra trek.

Along with Annapurna II, III, IV, and V; it makes a grand Annapurna Himalaya range.

Ghorepani, before climbing up another ridge, known as “Khopra Ridge”. Without any doubt, it is one of the best short treks in Nepal.

In the evenings, local yak herds are brought to overnight and graze on the slopes just below us.

As you descend back down into the valley, you’ll pass through villages and terraces and can stop for lunch or even spend an extra night in one of the village teahouses. At Tatopani, you’ll find a built-up hot spring open to the public. OR can directly drive to Pokhara which is about 6-7 hours of drive by jeep. (Road condition up to place names Beni is off road and rest up to Pokhara is good condition drive mostly).

Best time to visit Khopra Danda trek

The weather is the most important factor to trek in any destination because no one is beyond nature. Trekking is Khopra is possible throughout the year but there is ups and downs of every season. The best season to trek to Khopra is autumn and spring as the sky  is crystal clear from dusk to dawn, the rain stops and the clouds blocking the sun is clear. Teak during winter and monsoon is difficult due to heavy snowfall and rainfall too.
