Ghorepani is a small village located at the periphery of Annapurna Conservation Area (ACAP). A fairly easier and short trek, Ghorepani makes a great trekking experience. You can also opt. to visit Ghorepani along with the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek.
The trek begins from Nayapul, on the outskirts of Pokhara. The trail ascends to Tikhedhunga, which lies on the Southern side of the usual ABC trail. Another day hike will take you to the Ghorepani. A mainly Gurung village, most of them belong to the families of the former Gurkha Army. An early morning hike will take you to Poon Hill, a popular site for enjoying Sunrise and the panoramic Himalayan view, namely; Annapurna, Machhapuchhre and Dhaulagiri. The final leg comprises of a short trek to Ghandruk and back to Nayapul.
Ghorepani-Poon Hill Trek is suitable for any age. You can choose to take your entire family on this trip. During peak seasons, you may find it a busy route as most trekkers choose to trek through the Ghorepani to Annapurna Base Camp.

Annapurna is the best place on Earth. The route and scenery are breath-taking. The way leading from Machhapuchhre to Annapurna base camp is the best.
I had fun with my friends. The guide is the best! He helped us throughout the trip. I’d suggest you to take Diamox to help prevent altitude sickness. It’s really hard to breath when you reach at the top. All in all a great experience. ~Jessica Mahut (Florida, USA)
