Tsum Valley is one of Nepal’s remotest valleys located amidst the mountains. The access to the region was recently provided, however, it is still considered one of the restricted regions. The trek takes around the majestic Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal, and Boudha Himal ranges. Predominantly Tibetan, the region is closer to Tibet in terms of culture and lifestyle.

The people of Tsum Valley or popularly known as the Tsumbas belong to Tibetan origin. Due to its discreet nature and lesser inflow of tourists, the region still remains untouched. It was only opened in 2008. You’re required to obtain a special permit to enter the region. The older lifestyle, culture and traditions are still intact.

The trek begins and ends at Arughat. The trail passes through multiple suspension bridges, mixed dense forest and unbeaten path along the Budhi Gandaki River. The ancient Gombas of the region such as: Rachen Gompa, Mu Gompa, Dephyudonma Gompa are the sights to see.

Testimonials

We completed the 11 day Annapurna base camp trek. It was our first time to Nepal and I am glad we booked our trek through Caravan Outdoors.

They took care of everything (airport pick up, accommodations, park pass, etc..) there was no thinking required on our part. It was fantastic! Our guide and porter were very nice and answered any questions we had. ~Jennifer Smith (Winnipeg, Canada)
