Manaslu Circuit Trek can be the best alternative for the Annapurna trekking. Located inside the Manaslu Conservation Area, the circuit trail passes through the base of the 8th highest mountain, Manaslu. The circuit accounts for a lengthy and arduous trek. Formerly, a camping trip, it can now be completed through tea-houses en route.
The region opened as early as 1991 for the tourists; and it follows an old salt-trading route along the Budi Gandaki river. Few of the sections were destroyed during the major earthquake of 2015; however, the trail has now been repaired and is fully operational. The trek commences at Arughat, Gorkha. The 13 days trekking passes through many uneven terrains and varying geographical conditions. The highest elevation you will reach is at Larkya La Pass at the sheer height of 5,160 meters. It concludes at Syange village.
Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of the best longest treks in the world. It receives a lesser amount of tourists in a year compared to the Everest and Annapurna region, hence, the trail remains wide open for exploration. Manaslu Conservation Area (MCAP) is the highlight of the trek which offers a rare glimpse of mid-western flora and fauna. You would be required to obtain a permit to enter the region.
Poses difficulty as the terrain, temperature and altitude may differ along the trail. Max. altitude may reach over 5000 m and the hike requires over 6 hours a day.

Everest trek proved to be a challenge for me. I never had trekked to such great height before, however, the proper acclimatization and sound health helped me reach the base camp at no time.
Thanks to the team of Caravan Outdoors, specially to Hom Rana, for making the trip successful. The tea-houses were clean and standard, likewise the hotel in Kathmandu. Fabulous trip and well organized overall. ~Rob Ellington (NSW, Australia)
